Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto instructed the police to speed up investigations into the murder of Kalenjin musician Diana Chelele, which occurred on Saturday.
Speaking to Chelele's family and the Kalenjin Musicians Association, Governor Rutto pledged to ensure investigations are fast-tracked to find the person responsible for killing the popular singer.
On Monday, Bomet residents marched on the streets and later to the police station to protest against the slow pace of the police investigation into her murder.
County police commandant Leah Kithei Kithei also dismissed reports that police are holding Chelele's husband Eric Musila over the killing.
