Jaguar, whose real name is Charles Njagua Kanyi, was recently appointed to the board of NACADA by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The appointment sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some criticizing the President for favoritism due to their friendship. However, others welcomed the move.
Response to Appointment ¶
Rapper Madtraxx expressed concern that the lucrative government job might corrupt Jaguar, saying:
"We are happy about this move, I mean it’s great to have a young guy on Board who’ll represent the youth as they should, so let’s see how it goes we however hope that he won’t be corrupted by power, you’ve all seen what it does to people"
Jaguar dismissed allegations of potential corruption and favoritism, stating that his appointment was a result of his hard work. He thanked the President for believing in him and revealed his involvement in crime eradication efforts.
"This is a good gesture. I have been spearheading the campaign to have youths involved in criminal activities to surrender guns and we have seen a number of them do so. I have also been visiting prisons to help rehabilitate prisoners. Most of the crimes the youth are involved in have to do with drugs and this is part of what I want to help eradicate,"
Jaguar said.
Context and Implications ¶
Jaguar's appointment to the NACADA board has raised questions about the potential impact on the youth agenda and the fight against drug-related crimes.
