TV personality Janet Mbugua expressed her disappointment with the Kilimani mums Facebook group, stating that it is a platform for people to shame others they have fallen out with.
According to Janet, individuals who constantly use social media to bash others may be trying to cover up their own flaws. In a blog post, she questioned the motivations behind such behavior, asking:
"You sit around gossiping about other people; their failures, their successes, who they married, what they wore, how they walk, what they say…but what does that have to do with how you’re living your purpose? Does it make you feel any better, any more authentic or superior?"
Janet also advised people to reflect on their actions when they find themselves constantly gossiping, shaming, or feeling angry and upset with others. She wrote:
"Look inwards, when you find yourself talking cheap, gossiping for hours on end, shaming, defaming. Look inwards, when you begin to find yourself constantly angry and upset with everything and everyone around you."
Janet's comments appear to be directed at popular Facebook community groups where individuals share their personal issues and seek advice from others.
