The Nairobi Hospital, a leading healthcare institution in Eastern Africa, is seeking a Chief Accountant to manage its Central Accounts function.

The ideal candidate will be patient-focused, possess a solid work ethic, and be a team player able to add value to both clinical and non-clinical practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely management accounting reports and business performance data.
  • Coordinate the preparation of accurate and up-to-date financial and management accounting information to facilitate decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal control systems and procedures.
  • Maintain robust cash handling and banking procedures.
  • Design and implement effective systems of monitoring performance against budget.
  • Identify significant budget variances and possible remedial action.
  • Produce divisional and corporate forecasts for income and expenditure on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Provide relevant and timely monthly statements, reports, and reconciliations together with appropriate interpretation and advice for the Senior Management Team.
  • Ensure effective cash flow and treasury management.
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in accounting or its equivalent.
  • CPA(K) or ACCA certification.
  • Seven years of progressive working experience, with at least three years at a senior level.
  • Expert knowledge of accounting, auditing, and financial and management reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software applications and use of ERP.
  • Experience in auditing would be an added advantage.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Results and detail-oriented.
