The Nairobi Hospital, a leading healthcare institution in Eastern Africa, has announced a career opportunity for a Technical and Facilities Manager.

The ideal candidate will be patient-focused, possess a solid work ethic, and be a team player able to add value to both clinical and non-clinical practices.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will report to the Operations Director and be responsible for ensuring the quality and cost-effective execution of defined construction and refurbishment projects, as well as overseeing facilities management.

  • Provide effective linkages and interface between the Hospital and contractors on project phases, including start-up, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning.
  • Track projects against schedules, budgets, and phase gate review objectives.
  • Develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated occurrences.
  • Review works and documentation for compliance with statutory and Hospital standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate project activities as guided by the project work plan and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Identify project scope changes and ensure job change notices are submitted and approved before implementation.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental requirements are met by contractors.
  • Oversee facilities management.

Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture, Quantity Survey, Construction Engineering, Land Economics, or Building Economics.
  • Up-to-date registration with the respective professional body.
  • Seven years of experience, with three years in a supervisory position.
  • Proven track record in managing multiple and/or complex projects.
  • Conscientious and results-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
