Protests have begun in several areas, including Kisumu, where demonstrators are blocking roads. According to reports, five people were shot and one person died during the protests.
The protests are part of a larger movement by the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). CORD has previously held demonstrations calling for the resignation of IEBC commissioners and the disbandment of the electoral body, as demanded by Raila Odinga and CORD.
