Fadumo Dayib, a Somali presidential candidate, has spoken out against Al-Shabaab, saying she is not afraid of death.
Dayib shared her personal story, stating,
I died when I was born, I died when I was mutilated, I died on my wedding night, and I died when I gave birth to my first child... I am not afraid of death.
She also expressed her determination to stand up for what she believes in, saying,
I'd rather die for something I believe in, than live and be dead inside, because I don't believe that a woman belongs either in a house or in a grave.
Dayib announced her candidacy for the presidency of Somalia in 2016, citing her desire to challenge traditional norms and fight against oppression.
