Serah Sarah, a songstress, recently gave Cynthia Mukanzi a glimpse into her wardrobe, showcasing her love for all things glimmer.

According to Serah Sarah, her sense of style is derived from her personality, which is all about being comfortable yet bold. She can effortlessly pull off laid-back or classy and chic styles.

When asked about her favorite wardrobe pieces, Serah Sarah mentioned high-waist tights from Calzedonia, paired with clinging low-cut tops and heels during the day, and a shimmer dress for the night.

Her must-have fashion items include Bobby Brown finish pressed powder, lippie from Revolution, and Victoria Secret’s body splash. For men, she recommends cuff links for formal wear and a bracelet for a casual touch-up, along with a timepiece.

Serah Sarah takes roughly 20 minutes to get ready on normal occasions, depending on where she’s going. Her closet staple is body shimmer, which she cannot do without.

On fashion trends, Serah Sarah wishes see-through plastic high-heeled shoes would disappear, citing discomfort and sweat issues. She also believes that leaving gel on nails for too long and sagging pants while flashing underwear are major style mistakes for women and men, respectively.

For African fashion designers, Serah Sarah recommends Zeddie Loky from Kenya, Finchitua by Feiruza from Ethiopia, and Kijie James from Nigeria, praising their creativity and uniqueness.

Her fashion and style icon is South Africa’s Nhlanhla Nciza of Mafikizolo, whom she admires for her ability to interweave fabrics, colors, and shapes. Nhlanhla Nciza also has a fashion house, NN Vintage, which showcases her prowess.

Serah Sarah’s day-to-day style is influenced by her mood, weather, and the type of occasion. When performing on stage, she opts for looks that depend on the event, ranging from long shimmer dresses for mellow performances to shimmer tights or shorts for active shows.

She recalled a fashion malfunction during a performance in Dubai, where her off-shoulder sleeveless top kept slipping down, causing embarrassment. However, she distinguishes between trends and style, viewing trends as fleeting and style as an art of individuality and expression.
