On July 17, 2019, a teacher from Chemamit Primary School in Narok was picked from the school compound by unknown individuals in a saloon car during games time.
The body of the deceased, Daniel Terer, was found five days later in a river in Olenguruone area, with his clothes dumped elsewhere.
Trans Mara East Police Commander Fred Abuga stated that preliminary investigations indicate the teacher was murdered elsewhere and dumped in the river.
According to Abuga, 'We suspected that the matter is a murder case after his clothes were found inside a river in Litein (Kericho county) and his body dumped elsewhere.'
The school's head teacher recorded a police statement, noting that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation had visited the scene.
The body of the deceased was moved to a mortuary within Olenguruone.
