On Sunday morning, a tragic incident occurred at Kamiti Corner in Nairobi, where a bodyguard attached to Meru County Assembly speaker Joseph Kaberia was shot dead.
The victim, Constable Samuel Munga, was allegedly killed by the speaker's driver, Andrew Nabea, following an argument.
According to the speaker, who was not present during the 3am shootout, the driver, Andrew Mwithalii, sustained a gunshot wound and is admitted at the Ruaraka Neema Hospital in Kasarani area.
Relevant national security organs have taken charge and commenced investigations into the incident, which is still under investigation.
Reports indicate that the driver was dropping off the bodyguard at his sister's house when a scuffle ensued between them outside the gate, with neighbours reporting hearing the two arguing before gunshots were heard.
Police sources indicate that a total of 17 spent cartridges were recovered at the scene, with preliminary investigations suggesting that all the fired bullets came from the driver's gun.
The bodyguard, who had been shot several times in the chest, was confirmed dead at the scene.
