National Aids Control Council director Nduku Kilonzo stated that over 15,000 teachers are living with HIV-Aids.

Kilonzo made the statement during the launch of a booklet and video produced by the Kenya Network of HIV Positive Teachers Association.

The booklet and video feature real-life stories of teachers who have been living with the disease since 2004, when they publicly disclosed their status.

The association has provided support to approximately 4,000 member teachers.

According to Kilonzo, the activities of the Kenya Network of HIV Positive Teachers Association have helped victims overcome stigma, citing them as a best practice.

"Kenepote activities are good and one of the best practices that helped victims overcome stigma,"

Kilonzo said.

The recovered account cited reporting by The Star.
