Gospel singer Willy Paul has been criticized by a fan for his new song, Mapenzi, which some have interpreted as an anti-LGBTQ+ message.

The song, released a few weeks ago, glorifies heterosexual marriage and condemns certain forms of love deemed 'unnatural'. One of Willy Paul's fans expressed disagreement with the song's message on social media, stating:

Willy Paul Msafi Stop hating on LGBT in the name of GOD - do that in the secular world so that we know how to deal with you. God does not make mistakes and the fact that we love differently does not mean we do not love - am your fan, but on this, I disagree totally. Let God do the judging, we can't be the accused, the police and the judge at the same time. mimi ni fan wako - LAKINI - hii mambo ya kusema that mapenzi is just meant to be between opposite sex BASED on the Bible ni kama kusema GOD MAKES MISTAKES - if that is your opinion, shift to secular music and sing tunes of Gash DEM like we are used to hearing. God's love for all of us and there is a reason why there is a judgement day, its not your work to judge others including people who love differently from the LGBT.

A video of the song has also sparked mixed reactions.
