Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has stated that the Garissa University attack was carried out by Kenyan Somalis, rather than militants from Somalia.
According to his tweet, "The attack in Garissa is obviously the work of Kenyan Somalis. Let us not blame Somalia’s Al Shabaab. This is local..indigenous and v (very) local,"
In the attack, 147 people were killed and 79 injured during a 17-hour assault.
Al-Shabaab had previously claimed responsibility for the attack.
