A friendly match between Kenya's SportPesa All Stars team and English Premier League club Hull City is set to take place on February 27 at the KCOM Stadium in Hull.
SportPesa, the sponsors of the All Stars team, have pledged a cash prize of KSh 1.1 million if the team wins the match, KSh 500,000 for a draw, and KSh 100,000 for each goal scored.
Team Preparation ¶
The team is currently undergoing residential training at the Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani and will travel to Hull on February 22.
Gor Mahia midfielder Amos Nondi expressed his excitement about the opportunity to play in Europe and against an English Premier League team, seeing it as a chance to showcase his talent to potential scouts.
For me, this is not just a friendly match. I know that my career could change drastically, and so I am taking it very seriously. I plan to produce my best performance, not just for the money, but so that I can impress any suitors who may be watching the game.
Coach Okumbi has a full squad except for four players from Tusker and Ulinzi Stars, whose teams are preparing for CAF competitions. However, Ulinzi's Cliff Kasuti has been allowed to train with the team since he is not registered for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Traveling Party ¶
John Makwatta will join the All Stars camp after Ulinzi's match against Al Hilal Benghazi, while the Tusker trio of James Situma, David Okello, and Allan Wanga will remain absent until after their CAF Champions League match against AS Port Louis.
The friendly match against Hull City will be played on February 27, with a return match scheduled for July at Kasarani.
