On a sweltering Sunday evening in Singapore, Tottenham Hotspur secured a thrilling 3-2 win over Juventus in a pre-season friendly, with Harry Kane scoring a stunning 93rd-minute winner from the halfway line.
The match, played at the National Stadium, saw a youthful Spurs dominate the first half, with Juventus struggling to adapt to their new manager Maurizio Sarri's 'Sarri-ball' tactic of playing out from the back with short, quick passes.
Instead of moving the ball forward, Juventus often found themselves defending desperately after being caught in possession as Spurs pressed high up the pitch.
Spurs took the lead on the half-hour mark, thanks to a well-worked move involving Son Heung-min, Troy Parrott, and Erik Lamela, with the latter tapping in a low strike from Parrott that had been parried by Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
However, Juventus levelled the score in the 56th minute through Gonzalo Higuain, who drilled a strike after exchanging passes with Federico Bernardeschi.
Just four minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo arrived late to drive home Mattia De Sciglio's cutback, giving Juventus the lead.
But Spurs were level again just five minutes later, thanks to a Champions League semi-final hero Lucas Moura, who fired home Tanguy Ndombele's low cross.
With the match hanging in the balance, Kane and Higuain both squandered good chances to score winning goals in the final 10 minutes before Kane's incredible winner.
"It's probably one of the best goals of my career," Kane said in a post-match interview. "I noticed the keeper was often off of his line and thought if I get a chance to shoot I will, and it just went in."
