According to Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, CORD leader Raila Odinga made a phone call to him over the weekend expressing frustration about the low voter registration numbers in his constituency.
Wandayi confirmed that ODM officials and aspirants in the area seem disinterested in the voter registration exercise, instead focusing on politics at funerals.
"The remaining few days of the ongoing mass voter registration will determine whether Raila will beat President Uhuru Kenyatta at the ballot. It’s a matter of life and death,"
Wandayi said.
He also warned that aspirants in the region risk not being awarded certificates if they fail to mobilize voters for Raila.

"Most of us, including Raila, are frustrated that at the time we expected our supporters to enlist as voters is when they are going for IDs."
Raila held a crisis meeting with leaders and aspirants in the region to address the issue.
