Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga has publicly declared his wealth through his social media account, sharing documents that outline his assets and income.

According to the shared documents, Mutunga owns an apartment valued at Sh12.5 Million and another property in Nairobi worth Sh19.1 Million. His monthly net salary is approximately Sh1.1 Million, and he owns a saloon car worth Sh750,000, while his spouse has a vehicle worth Sh650,000.

The documents also show that between January 2012 and November 2015, the Chief Justice earned a net salary of Sh50 Million. Additionally, he received Sh10 Million from the Judicial Service Commission, where he serves as chairman, between January and December 2014.

Further details from the wealth declaration indicate that between January and June 2011, Mutunga earned a salary of Sh17 Million and received Sh400,000 from Mutunga & Company Advocates.

As of December 31, 2015, Mutunga's bank accounts at Standard Chartered held Sh415,035 in a Kenyan shilling account and 34,509 US dollars in a dollar account.

Mutunga stated that he disclosed this information to uphold the values of transparency and accountability, and he is expected to undergo a forensic lifestyle audit soon.
