A Kenyan woman, Elva Olunga, has died, leaving behind three children and a husband, after being involved in an alleged illicit love affair with an older man, Omija John.
According to reports, Elva was leading a normal life, conducting business online and selling housewares and toys. She was also an active Facebook user and a member of a popular Facebook page, Kisumu Dads, where she advised people on relationship matters.
It is alleged that during her interactions with male customers on Facebook, she met Omija John, who took her on luxurious trips to places like Dubai. Her husband did not mind the trips, as he thought she was traveling for business.
However, things took a turn when Elva was appointed treasurer of a chama she had joined, and KSh 600,000 disappeared under her watch. She was later arrested, but Omija secured her release.
After her release, Omija allegedly ranted on Facebook, spewing nasty words at those who exposed and attacked his lover. This led to Elva distancing herself from him, which angered Omija, causing him to expose their affairs on Facebook, including tagging Elva's husband.
Omija allegedly posted coffins on Facebook, threatening Elva, which led to her depression. Her husband had also taken their children away, and Elva could not take the pressure anymore.
Elva Olunga is reported to have died of depression, and her story is being used online to warn other women about the dangers of similar lifestyles.
