Results from the 2014 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination show that slightly less than half of the candidates scored at least 250 out of 500 marks.
According to Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi, who released the results, the overall performance was similar to the previous year.
Kaimenyi stated that 436,814 students achieved more than 251 marks, accounting for 49.61% of the total candidates, compared to 49.71% in the previous year.
A total of over 880,000 candidates took the exam in 24,278 centers nationwide, marking an increase from 2013 when 839,000 candidates sat for the exam in 23,819 centers.
