Students at the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University have altered their sleep patterns in an attempt to avoid bedbugs that have infested their hostels.

To evade the bedbugs, students have started sleeping during the day and staying awake at night, often playing video games to remain alert.

Some female students have resorted to pouring boiled water on their beds to kill any remaining bedbugs, which are reportedly resistant to fumigants.

According to reports, Kenyatta University recently imported a bedbug-killing machine from Germany, valued at approximately 2 million Kenyan shillings.

In addition to these measures, the universities are replacing wooden bed frames with metallic ones to prevent the breeding of bedbugs.
