The High Court of Kenya has lifted interim orders that barred the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) from organizing parallel league matches.
Justice Roselyne Aburili ruled that Football Kenya Federation (FKF) had no capacity to bring proceedings against KPL, and therefore the interim order obtained by FKF on 20 February was unlawful.
The court set aside the interim order and noted its concern over FIFA's failure to resolve the dispute between the two organizations.
Justice Aburili also declined to order FKF to deposit money in court as security for costs, stating that the decision on who should pay costs would be made after hearing both parties.
The judge found that the court had jurisdiction to hear the dispute, contrary to KPL's opposition, and that Kenya Referees Association and Sports Kenya were properly included in the suit.
