Upon arriving in Kenya on Friday evening, US President Barack Obama approached a decoy limousine before being directed to the actual presidential vehicle, known as the 'Beast', by US security officials.
Prior to the brief mix-up, President Obama had a chance to catch up with President Uhuru Kenyatta as they walked towards the decoy vehicle after signing the visitors' book at the airport.
Security Protocol ¶
As they approached the decoy, a security officer gestured towards the actual 'Beast', and President Obama shook hands with the officer before proceeding to the correct vehicle.
President Obama seemed to be in high spirits during his arrival in Kenya, his late father's home country, and was seen sharing a warm hug with his sister Auma Obama.
Motorcade Details ¶
Auma Obama was given the opportunity to ride in the 'Beast' with her brother. After the Obama motorcade departed the airport, President Kenyatta waited briefly for his own motorcade to arrive, chatting with Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero and Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery in the meantime.
President Kenyatta was accompanied by various government officials, including Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohammed and his son Jomo Kenyatta, who shared a lengthy handshake with President Obama.
During his visit, President Obama will remain in the country until Sunday before departing for Ethiopia as part of his African trip.
