Thousands of mourners gathered at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University in Bondo for the funeral service of Fidel Odinga.
Fidel was to be buried next to his grandfather Jaramogi Oginga Odinga at the family graveyard, about 10km from his father’s Opoda farm. The funeral attracted political leaders from across the country who came to pay their respects to the late son of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The funeral service was led by Bishop Macarios of the Greek Orthodox Church, the denomination to which Fidel and his widow, Lwam Bekele, belonged. Several speeches were scheduled from family members, friends, and politicians.
