Published on July 21, 2019, local leaders in Homa Bay County have been mounting pressure on Governor Cyprian Awiti to disband his cabinet over allegations of corruption and incompetency.

The leaders are now calling for the county chief to appoint a new cabinet that can prudently use public funds to deliver services to residents.

At a fundraiser at Mititi Secondary School in Kasipul, Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) Board Chairperson Odoyo Owido accused the County Executive Committee (CECs) of using public funds meant for development to enrich their own selfish interests.

Mr. Owido claimed that despite billions of shillings being injected into the county each year, there are no notable projects that have been undertaken using these funds.

He further alleged that physical infrastructural projects in the county are privately owned by individuals working in the county government using public funds.

The LBDA boss emphasized that the only way to salvage the county government is for Governor Awiti to restructure his cabinet as soon as possible.
