On Saturday, July 20, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Woman Representative Esther Passaris put aside their past differences and shared a podium at President Uhuru Kenyatta's event to mark Ushirika Day.
The event saw the inauguration of the new KCC Dandora Factory, and Sonko and Passaris were photographed seated next to each other, exchanging whispers.
This warm display of relations is a stark contrast to the Madaraka Day drama at Pumwani grounds, where Passaris walked out during Sonko's address.
The drama began when Sonko bashed Passaris for making 'numerous' phone calls to him, saying, 'I'm not your husband that I should answer to your calls anytime you want. Let us respect one another. Even President Uhuru Kenyatta does not respond to my calls every time.'
Passaris had complained of being left out in the operations of the county, saying, 'How many functions have happened in Nairobi without me? I wasn’t involved in cleaning the city. It is because the governor did not invite me. It is now clear he looks down upon my office.'
