Algeria's 29-year wait for continental glory finally came to an end on July 19, 2019, as they defeated Senegal 1-0 in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations at the Cairo International Stadium.

Baghdad Bounedjah's goal, which came off a deflection in the opening minutes of the match, proved to be the difference-maker for the Desert Foxes.

Despite not scoring a goal throughout the tournament, Ismael Bennacer was named the Player of the Tournament for his impressive performances, which included providing the most assists alongside Ivory Coast's Franck Kessie.

Algeria's goalkeeper, Rais M'Bolhi, was also recognized for his outstanding performances, being crowned the best shot-stopper of the competition and winning the Man of the Match award for the final.
