On July 21, 2019, Egypt made significant economic moves, announcing a 60% increase in the minimum wage and a 15% hike in pensions, according to local media. This marked the first minimum wage hike for state employees since 2014, when it rose from around 700 Egyptian Pounds (approximately Sh4,375) to 1,200 EGP (Sh7,500).
Additionally, starting August 1, visitors to Egyptian museums and archaeological sites will be allowed to take photos using cell phones for free, a move aimed at promoting Egyptian antiquities and uplifting tourism. The Ministry of Antiquities stated that this decision would help in promoting Egyptian antiquities, archaeological sites, and museums.
Head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mostafa Waziry, said, "These photos will promote our great and unique ancient Egyptian civilization and uplift tourism." However, no flash light will be allowed.
Egypt, a history-rich country, boasts numerous must-visit places, including the Great Sphinx of Giza, believed to have been built about 2500 BC, and the Pyramids of Giza, the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
