On July 11, 2019, David Ongeri, an electrical engineering student at Egerton University's main campus in Njoro, was found dead inside his rental house at Egerton Gate estate.

According to preliminary investigations, Ongeri's death was a result of relationship wrangles with Patricia Mbithe Mwololo, a 23-year-old woman and a butcher at Egerton area.

Police recovered a panga stained with blood in the house, which they suspect could be the murder weapon.

Ms. Mwololo was arrested in Kibera slum, Nairobi, where she had gone to hide at a relative's home.

Njoro Sub County police commander Huka Mohamed confirmed the arrest, stating that detectives had been trailing the suspect and had since been arrested.

"Detectives have been trailing the woman linked to the murder of the university student, and has since been arrested," Huka said.

The police boss added that investigations would be concluded soon, and the suspect would be arraigned in court.
