British Open: Shane Lowry Takes Lead at Portrush

Published on July 20, 2019, the third round of the British Open at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland saw a thrilling turn of events.

Shane Lowry, a 32-year-old Irish golfer, delighted the crowds with a birdie at the par-five 12th hole, moving him to five-under par for the round and 13-under for the tournament.

Lowry's lead was one shot ahead of Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who sat in second place, and American J.B. Holmes, who was on 11-under.

Former US Open champion Justin Rose made a strong comeback on the back nine, with an eagle on the 12th followed by two birdies in three holes, moving him within three strokes of Lowry.

Other notable golfers, including Lee Westwood and Rickie Fowler, also made their presence felt in the tournament.
