On July 20, 2019, DCI officers raided an illicit liquor manufacturing firm at Nairobi's Dandora estate, leading to the arrest of four suspects.

Samuel Kihara, Peter Mwangi, Margaret Waithera, and Moses Itunga were taken into custody after detectives discovered the operation, which was masquerading as a go-down at Baraka-Dandora.

During the raid, a van with fake KRA and KEBS stickers, chemicals packaging bottles, and seals were recovered. Additionally, over 177 cartons of illicit Spirit Brands and several 250L drums of suspected ethanol were seized.

The DCI stated that samples from the plant have been taken for further analysis, and an investigation is underway to identify those behind the operation.

“Samples from the plant were taken for further analysis and crime scene sealed off. Suspects in custody and to be charged accordingly,” said the DCI.
