Odion Ighalo Wins AFCON Golden Boot Award

On July 17, 2019, Odion Ighalo scored his fifth goal of the tournament, securing Nigeria's bronze medal in the losers' final against Tunisia.

With five goals and one assist, Ighalo beat top players like Riyad Mahrez, Sadio Mane, and Adam Ounas to win the prestigious award.

He is the sixth Nigerian star to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of Segun Odegbami, Rasheed Yekini, Julius Aghahowa, Jay-Jay Okocha, and Emmanuel Emenike.

Emmanuel Emenike won the 2013 edition when he helped Nigeria win the title in South Africa.

Despite picking up a hamstring injury in the slim win over Algeria, Ighalo's achievement is a consolation for the striker.
