Starehe MP Charles Njagua, alias Jaguar, has found himself at the center of a social media controversy after sharing a photo he claimed was taken in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
On Thursday, Jaguar posted a picture of himself leaning against a high-rise building with a stunning aerial view of the surrounding area. He captioned the photo, 'Good Morning from Dar es Salaam.'
However, in an interview with the BBC's Dira programme, Jaguar revealed that he was actually in Dodoma, Tanzania, at the time the photo was taken.
But Kenyans on Twitter were not convinced, and they quickly began to investigate the authenticity of the photo. Using a picture posted by a user named Head Huncho, which was taken from a spot with similar features, they concluded that Jaguar's photo was likely taken in Westlands, Nairobi.
As the debate raged on, Twitter users shared their own theories and observations, with some pointing out that the photo's filters made the location appear different. Others accused Jaguar of using the photo for clout.
One user, Waithira kim, even questioned the authenticity of the photo, pointing out that Dar es Salaam does not have many tall buildings like the one in the photo.
July 19, 2019, marked the day when the controversy began to unfold, with many users taking to Twitter to share their thoughts and opinions on the matter.
