On Saturday, Kenyan football legend Joe Kadenge will be laid to rest at his home in Soliani village, Vihiga County, following his passing on July 7 in Nairobi.
Organisers have confirmed that preparations are complete for the burial ceremony, which is expected to attract over 2,000 people, including fellow football legends, fans, and political leaders.
Eric Odei, a member of the funeral organising committee and Gisambai Ward Representative, said the family is expecting a large turnout and has made arrangements for the event at Gisambai Primary School.
"We already have football legends who played with him at Harambee Stars and at AFC Leopards around. They are helping in preparations to make sure everything goes as planned," said Odei.
As a tribute to Kadenge's legacy, a friendly football match was held on Friday at Kidundu Stadium in Vihiga County, featuring legends who played with him in the 1960s.
