On July 19, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded at the Lagos Airport in Nigeria as a man attempted to hitch a ride on a flight to Port Harcourt.
Azman Air flight passengers noticed the man climbing onto the wing of the Boeing 737 as it was taxiing towards the runway, prompting them to alert the flight attendants.
According to eyewitnesses, the man had managed to sneak onto the tarmac and had even stored his carry-on luggage in one of the plane's engines.
Passengers' quick thinking led to the flight attendants warning the pilots, who were forced to shut down the engines to avoid injuring the stowaway.
Video footage posted on YouTube shows the man climbing onto the wing, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Fortunately, the man was arrested, and the flight resumed after the incident.
The Lagos Airport has faced security concerns in the past, including thefts from aircraft cargo holds while the planes were in use.
