Kenya's London Embassy Embroiled in Shameful Protest ¶
October 14th, 2017, marked a shameful day for the Kenyan community in London, as a group of Kikuyu supporters, allegedly backed by the Kenyan Embassy, heckled Prime Minister Raila Odinga during a visit to the city.
According to sources, the Embassy in London, led by Deputy High Commissioner Grace Cerere, planned and executed the protests, which were meant to humiliate the Prime Minister.
It is alleged that Cerere, along with One Clr. Elizabeth Kangethe and Peter Kiruthi, also known as Mr. Seed, met at Cerere's house two days before Raila's visit to London to discuss the plan.
The protests were part of a larger smear campaign against Raila, orchestrated by the Jubilee government, with the aim of disrupting his lecture at the Chatham House.
Cambridge Analytica operatives were reportedly involved in peddling the narrative behind the protests, while an entrepreneur named Jane Wanjiru Kihara was said to have provided instructions to the group via Skype.
The Kikuyu community in London was mobilized by the immigration department, which supplied them with placards and other merchandise to be used during the event.
As the Kenyan taxpayers foot the bills for the country's foreign missions, including the London Embassy, it is essential to remind the High Commission in London that their role is to represent the interests of all Kenyans, not just the Kikuyu community.
The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for a recall and prosecution of those involved. A full chronology of events leading up to the protests, including phone conversations, text messages, and Skype videos, is expected to be made public soon.
