July 19, 2019 - The Boxing Association of Kenya (BAK) has a new president, Anthony Ombok Otieno, who has vowed to spearhead the growth of the sport.

Ombok, who was elected as the new president, replacing John Kameta, has promised to work with everyone in developing boxing in accordance with his campaign slogan 'Ndondi Mashishani.'

He has called on all shareholders to rally together as he vowed to lead BAK into a new era of calm and proper administration following a period marred by internal wrangles by warring factions.

“So far I thank God we took the office and we have started on a high note with the Boxing League and it’s wonderful that we have all teams across the country with boxing teams here and this shows we are one,” Ombok told Citizen Digital.

He also promised to work with everyone in developing boxing, saying, “The wrangles are done because I was elected so we need to focus on how the boxers will grow in terms of boxing.”

BAK will send a team of 15 boxers to the All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco next month, where 10 slots have been allocated for men and the remaining five set apart for the ladies.

“The criteria is always selecting the best in the ring, the National team will comprise of the best boxers selected on merit and in two weeks’ time will head to the camp to start our training because we do not have enough time,” Ombok said.
