On October 1, 2018, police investigators gathered evidence that linked Citizen TV news anchor Jackie Maribe to the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

According to DCI George Kinoti, Maribe was indirectly linked to the crime and helped her fiancé, Joseph Irungu, cover up the offense by burning the clothes he wore during the crime.

Maribe's charges come from the illegal handling of a firearm after a live bullet was recovered in her bedroom, linked to a gun used by Irungu to shoot himself.

Section 222 of the Penal Code states that any person who becomes an accessory after the fact to murder is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for life.

Maribe's lawyer, Katwa Kigen, has vowed to fight the charges in court, terming them wrong.

DCI Kinoti has stated that the best Maribe can get in this case is a plea bargain, and that is if she is willing and ready to tell the truth.
