Published on July 19, 2019, two teenagers, James Mugambi Mugo and Brian Muchangi Kanyingiri, were arraigned in Embu court for stealing macadamia nuts worth Ksh. 700 from the assistant chief's farm.

According to the court, the duo stole four kilograms of macadamia from the farm belonging to James Nyaga on June 21, 2019, at Kithimu location.

They allegedly fled after being spotted but were later arrested after an identification parade.

Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Jean Ndengeri, the duo denied the charges, citing that the witness was not present.

However, Magistrate Ndengeri found the accused guilty of theft from another person's farm produce contrary to the law.

“On the 21st of June, the duo illegally collected 7000 grams of macadamia nuts worth Ksh. 700 from the Assistant chief, James Nyaga,” the magistrate stated.

The duo was released on a Ksh. 20,000 bond with a surety of similar amount or a cash bail of Ksh. 30,000.

The case will be mentioned on July 31.
