On a typical day, Nairobi's Argwings Kodhek Road is bustling with activity. But one discovery left a writer shocked - a Coco Jambo had opened at the back of the compound, selling beer, meat, and sports on big screens.
July 19, 2019, marked the day the writer stumbled upon this new Coco Jambo, which is located near Valley Arcade. The writer's friend was also at the bar, but they were at different locations, unaware that there were two Coco Jambo branches in the city.
That's the thing with Coco Jambo - they will be everywhere one day, and people will struggle to meet each other due to the numerous branches. This could be both a good and bad thing, as the writer is unsure.
Coco Jambo has a unique character, with an open structure, large screen televisions, and an open kitchen. Men sit on high tables and stools, ogling at the TV screens showing sports, while meat or samosas are carted to different tables. Ladies are also present, either with the men or enjoying the meat.
Coco Jambo is a place for beer, meat, and sports - not necessarily in that order. The writer appreciates the fact that they don't try to be anything else, making it a great experience.
