The Unlikely AFCON Final Winners ¶
July 19, 2019, was a day of excitement for Josephat Nyakundi and his wife, Njoki, as they learned that Josephat had won a fully paid trip to Egypt to watch the AFCON Finals, courtesy of Visa.
Josephat's win was a result of using his Coop Visa Card to pay his usual bills, and he was accompanied by his long-time soccer buddy, Nick, who was also a lucky winner.
However, what made Josephat's win even more special was that he had broken the rules of using his Coop Visa Card, which was meant for paying household bills and fuel, not for picking up tabs at his favorite watering hole.
But Njoki was happy with the outcome, and she encouraged Josephat to pick Nick as his travel companion. She was excited to use the weeks he'd be away to source for more carpets in the Middle East, where she dealt in rags and carpets at her high-end outlet.
Another lucky winner was Natasha Angela, a young girl who won the Jumbo Junior category, accompanied to Egypt by her mother, Virginia Wamaitha. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the young girl, who had flown in a plane and witnessed a major soccer event.
It's heartwarming to see the impact of such experiences on young people's lives, and we wish Natasha and her mother a wonderful time in Egypt.
