On July 19, 2019, former South African president Jacob Zuma's lawyer, Muzi Sikhakhane, announced that Zuma would no longer participate in a corruption inquiry.

According to Sikhakhane, Zuma felt that he was being questioned unfairly and had been subject to 'relentless cross-examination.'

At the inquiry, Sikhakhane stated, 'Chair, we are here today to say we will take no further part in these proceedings.'
