On July 15, 2019, a disturbing incident occurred in Meru, where a seven-year-old boy was allegedly bitten by his uncle on the ears.

The boy had returned home from school for a lunch break when the incident happened. The suspect, identified as John Muriithi, allegedly locked his house after the boy grabbed a bag used to carry food and attacked him.

Fortunately, neighbors heard the boy's cry for help and came to his rescue. The boy was taken to school immediately and later to Kangeta hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

Teacher David Kithinji reported the incident to Muringene police post, and the suspect was arrested and is being held at Maua police station.

According to Igembe Central police boss Henry Onyango, the motive behind the attack was not immediately known, but there has been a land dispute in the family.

Residents were outraged by the incident and wanted to lynch the suspect, but the local assistant chief intervened.

As reported by The Star, the suspect will be arraigned in court.
