Armed Men Attack Thirdway Alliance Offices

Published on July 19, 2019

Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot's office in Lavington, Nairobi, was allegedly invaded by six armed men on Thursday night.

According to Dr. Aukot, the secretary general was shot at and hid inside one of the offices.

Dr. Aukot claimed this was a cowardly act, coming just hours after the Punguza Muzigo Bill passed.

Lawyer Miguna Miguna condemned the attack, saying it showed that the merchants of impunity in Kenya were scared and cornered.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had earlier verified that Dr. Aukot's Punguza Mzigo Initiative had met the required threshold of at least one million signatures.

The initiative was supported by a total of 1,222,541 registered voters.
