On July 19, 2019, a group of women leaders, including UN Women, Equality Now, and Wajir Women Rep Fatuma Gedi, embarked on a mission to raise awareness about women's rights and empowerment in Wajir County.
The team, known as Team Embrace, was comprised of female leaders and organizations from across the country, all united by their commitment to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.
During their visit, the team held a rally in Habasweni Sub-county, where they were hosted by Wajir Women Rep Fatuma Gedi. The event was attended by several notable figures, including Labour CS Ukur Yattani, Wajir South MP Omar Mohamed, and Wajir Deputy Governor Ahmed Mukhtar.
As part of their efforts to support women and youth groups in the county, Team Embrace donated equipment to hospitals, foodstuffs, and cheques to various groups. The team's visit was a significant step towards promoting women's rights and empowerment in Wajir County.
