CAF Announces AFCON 2021 Qualifiers Draw

July 19, 2019 - The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the full draw for the AFCON 2021 qualifiers, with teams from across the continent set to compete for a spot in the tournament.

Kenya's Harambee Stars have been drawn into Group G alongside Egypt, Togo, and the Comoros Islands.

Other teams in the group include Liberia, Chad, South Sudan, Mauritius, Sao Tome and Principe, Djibouti, and Djibouti.

The draw was made on July 18 in Cairo, with teams divided into five groups based on the FIFA world rankings.

CAF has also announced that eight teams will be playing in a mini-tournament to determine the final spots in the groups.

These teams include Cameroon, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Rwanda, Morocco, Mauritania, Central Africa, and Burundi.

The AFCON 2021 qualifiers are set to take place in 2020, with the tournament itself scheduled to take place in 2021.

  • Group A: Mali, Guinea, Namibia, W1, and W2
  • Group B: Uganda, Burkina Faso, and Malawi
  • Group C: Sudan, South Africa, and Ghana
  • Group D: DRC, Gabon, and Angola
  • Group E: Morocco, Mauritania, Central Africa, and Burundi
  • Group F: Cameroon, Cape Verde, Mozambique, and Rwanda
  • Group G: Egypt, Kenya, Togo, and Comoros
  • Group H: Algeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana
  • Group I: Senegal, Congo, Guinea-Bissau, and Eswatini
  • Group J: Tunisia, Libya, Tanzania, and Equatorial Guinea
  • Group K: Côte d'Ivoire, Niger, Madagascar, and Ethiopia
  • Group L: Nigeria, Benin, Sierra Leone, and Lesotho
