Published on July 19, 2019, a peculiar story emerged from Nairobi's Kibera slums, where a man named Geoffrey Lugaye has made a name for himself by feeding on cockroaches.

Mr. Lugaye, an artist and policy science expert, has a unique taste for fried cockroaches, which he claims are more sumptuous than other meats like beef. He also believes that cockroaches boost his immunity against diseases like the common cold.

During a lunch date with NTV's Olive Burrows, Mr. Lugaye likened the taste of cockroaches to that of flying termites. He also shared his favorite recipe for fried cockroaches, which involves a dash of lime juice and a little frying oil.

Mr. Lugaye's favorite accompaniment to his fried cockroaches is ugali. In an interview, he stated, 'I tried to boil them but I did not like it, I like them fried. Fried cockroach is it bro! Unaweka mafuta kidogo ukiweka mingi bado itamezwa yote, unaweka ndimu kidogo inasaidia digestion. Mende na ugali iko sawa sana.'

Watch the video below to see Mr. Lugaye's genius hack for catching cockroaches.
