A domestic dispute in Rongai, Nakuru town, ended in tragedy on Wednesday after a man killed his wife and then hanged himself in what police treated as a suspected murder-suicide.
Robert Nyakundi, 30, is reported to have stabbed his wife, Wilter Kerubo, 26, seven times with a kitchen knife before taking his own life. Neighbours said the couple argued at about 7 pm and later fell silent.
When residents checked on them around 11 pm, they found Kerubo’s body on a chair in a pool of blood and Nyakundi’s body in the compound with a rope around his neck.
Their four-year-old son was left orphaned. Police said the motive had not been established and investigations were under way.
In a separate case in Nakuru County, police were searching for a middle-aged man accused of slitting his wife’s throat and seriously injuring her lover after finding them having sex on his matrimonial bed.
The attack happened on Wednesday night at Kapregerego Village in Tinet Location, Kuresoi South Sub-County. Robert Mutai, the area Nyumba Kumi Initiative elder, said the suspect, Paul Maritim, found his wife, Janet Maritim, with her lover at about 11 pm before attacking them with a club and a panga.
