Kisumu RFC will be looking to protect their early position at the top of the KRU Championship table when they host debutants Masinde Murilo University of Science and Technology at Mamboleo ASK Showground in Match Day 2.
The Kisumu side opened their campaign with a 20-9 win over University of Eldoret, while MMUST began with a narrow 15-14 loss to Western Bulls. Howard Okwemba’s team now has a chance to build momentum against a side making its first appearance in the competition.
Okwemba wants another victory to keep Kisumu ahead in the standings. At the same time, Resolution Kisii are heading to Kakamega for a difficult meeting with Western Bulls.
Kisii coach Eric Bosire said the opening fixture against Kitale gave his side a useful test after a limited pre-season. He said the priority is to keep winning if the team is to return to the Kenya Cup. Kisii beat Kitale 11-3 at Gusii Stadium.
Kitale and University of Eldoret are both searching for their first wins of the season when they meet at Equip Africa College in Kitale. Kitale RFC chairman Ben Amboko said the club’s target is promotion to the Kenya Cup in its debut season.
Elsewhere, Catholic Monks will face Mombasa RFC at the Catholic University of East Africa grounds in Karen, Ngong Warriors will host Egerton University’s Wasps at Kibiko Secondary School, and United States International University will take on South Coast Pirates.
