Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has warned health workers against poor performance, saying she will not tolerate service delivery that puts patients at risk.

Speaking at Kitui Level 4 Hospital, Ngilu said residents should only experience the gains of devolution through reliable and quality healthcare. She said her administration had spent the past year pushing reforms in the sector and insisted that the health of local people remained a central commitment under her leadership.

“I’ve worked hard in the past one year to ensure real reforms in the health sector. The health of our people remains a key commitment under my leadership,” Ngilu said.

She met health partners, including the National Hospital Insurance Fund, to discuss ways of improving healthcare services at the facility. Ngilu said the hospital had recorded improvements in water supply, patient handling, staffing and equipment availability.

The governor also urged staff to keep accurate and dependable records, and said health workers must remain ethical and professional in their duties.
