On July 19, 2019, Gozem, a leading on-demand transport company in West Africa, introduced auto-rickshaws as a new transportation option in Lomé, Togo, and Cotonou, Benin.

These three-wheeled vehicles offer a comfortable and affordable alternative to motorcycle taxis, with the ability to carry up to three passengers at a time. Unlike motorcycle taxis, auto-rickshaws provide protection from the sun and rain, making them a more appealing option for passengers.

Users can book auto-rickshaws through the Gozem app, which allows them to choose their preferred mode of transportation, including the new auto-rickshaw option. The estimated price of the trip is displayed, and customers can select their preferred payment method before ordering.

“We are pleased to offer this new transport option to our customers in Lomé and Cotonou,” said Emeka Ajene, Gozem’s Managing Director. “With the launch of auto-rickshaws, we are moving one step closer to providing West African customers with safe, affordable, and convenient transport options for any and all occasions.”

Gozem’s auto-rickshaw service is part of its efforts to create value for customers, drivers, and local stakeholders across West Africa. The company’s partner-drivers are trained, and all vehicles on the Gozem platform, including auto-rickshaws, are insured.
